Intel's was selected for the InfoWorld Green 15 award today for identifying cost savings and pushing the limits of free cooling in the data-center. SANTA CLARA, Calif., April 22, 2009 – An independent study on notebook security, commissioned by Intel Corporation, analyzes the potential business costs of stolen or lost notebook computers, suggesting that in an era where "the office" can be almost anywhere, good security precautions are essential.
TreeHugger recognized Intel's commitment to renewable energy by naming it the "Best Effort by a Large Corporation" in the Business and Politics category of the inaugural Best of Green Awards. Intel's renewable energy credits make up 46% of its US electricity usage and make the company the single largest purchaser of green power in the US. Today in Moscow, Intel joined Yota to help introduce mobile WiMAX 4G embedded notebooks from Acer, ASUS, Lenovo, MSI, Samsung and Toshiba as two of Russia's largest cities - Moscow and St. Petersburg - now have WiMAX wireless broadband Internet access. The two Russian cities now have the leading, most advanced technology where 3G networks aren't even available, leap-frogging a technology generation with the ability to leverage 4G services. Yota is expecting to deploy WiMAX network and services in over 40 Russian cities. Recently, Yota and HTC also introduced the world's first hand held tri-mode WiMAX-enabled Smartphone, loaded with applications and embedded voice and data services and targeted for use over the impressive Yota 4G WiMAX network. Delivering affordable, super-fast mobile broadband to its citizens is just one more proof point that WiMAX continues to accelerate broadband capabilities in both emerging and mature countries around the world.
Broadband has revolutionized media consumption in the home. Recent research conducted by The Diffusion Group (TDG) found that 76 percent of consumers would value having an Internet-connected TV experience. SANTA CLARA, Calif., April. 14, 2009 – Intel Corporation today reported first-quarter revenue of $7.1 billion, operating income of $670 million, net income of $647 million and earnings per share (EPS) of 11 cents.
To celebrate Intel's 40th anniversary in 2008, employees volunteered 1.3 million hours at schools and non-profits, and earned around 1,400 non-profits and non-governmental agencies cash grants totaling $4 million.
